The Texas Conference For Women, Hewlett Packard and Texas Governor Rick Perry’s Office recognize Austin Woman Owned Business with Going Green Award.

Austin, Texas – The tradeshow industry is synonymous with waste. In fact, tradeshows and conventions are the second largest waste producing industry in the United States according to the U.S. EPA.
“I’ve been in the exhibit industry for 18 years and have always been bothered by the amount of waste behind the scenes,” says Jill Amerie, Owner of Xtreme Xhibits by Skyline, Inc.

Committed to transforming the events industry to one that is more sustainable, Xtreme Xhibits now offers green exhibiting products that include graphics made from 100% recycled soda bottles and water based inks, LED lighting, recycled carpet and flooring, biodegradable substrates and venue based rental solutions. “All these years I have trained my clients to ‘Make their Mark’ at tradeshows. I now train them to ‘Make their Mark without leaving one!’” says Amerie.

For these efforts, Xtreme Xhibits by Skyline has been recognized by Hewlett Packard, The Texas Conference for Women and Texas Governor Rick Perry’s Office as a winner in the first Boost Your Business by Going Green contest. Supported by Hewlett Packard, the Going Green Contest is a new contest within the Texas Conference For Women that recognizes women owned businesses that are helping to improve the environment by incorporating environmentally responsible practices into their businesses.

Not only is Xtreme Xhibits making a difference within convention center walls, they are driving change within their own walls as well. “We have made great strides at Xtreme to reduce our impact on the environment”, says Amerie. Xtreme Xhibits has implemented an office recycling initiative collecting paper, cardboard, plastics, aluminum and glass, substantially reducing the company’s waste flow to Austin landfills.

“After learning of the City of Austin’s WasteSMART program, our in-house recycling efforts really started to take hold. They came in and did an on-site assessment of methods we could incorporate into our company to reduce and recycle our waste” says Amerie. “Our first trip to the recycling center yielded more than 50 lbs of recyclables! We have a lot more to do but this is a great start” she adds. Xtreme Xhibits has recently become one of only 24 Austin companies to be recognized by the City of Austin as “WasteSMART”.

“I am honored to win this award and I thank Hewlett Packard for their generous gift. We look forward to incorporating their energy efficient products to further reduce our carbon footprint”, says Amerie.

Xtreme Xhibits by Skyline, Inc., a woman owned business, was established in November 2000, and is the trusted source for innovative and unique portable and custom modular tradeshow exhibits and graphics in the Austin and San Antonio areas.
