BayWalk Announces New Lease Signing

HermanHOME to Open in December

St. Petersburg, FL, November 20, 2009 — In the first formal success since the beginning of BayWalk’s revitalization, New York-based home furnishings company hermanHOME is set to open its first location in the northeast corner space on the first floor of the St. Petersburg shopping center. The grand opening is scheduled for December 2009.

HermanHOME offers a full range of upscale home furnishings, lighting, accessories, artwork and private label upholstery at extremely competitive prices. The method to their success is eliminating middlemen buyers and passing the savings on directly to end consumers. The location will also offer complete interior design services by co-owner Ed Biggs. Biggs’ work has been featured in many national publications including Home Magazine, The Houston Chronicle and The Washington Post.

“We looked at hundreds of locations all over St. Petersburg, and we kept coming back to BayWalk,” said Biggs. “I’m happy we are going to be a part of BayWalk’s comeback.”

“We are pleased to have hermanHOME coming in,” said leasing agent Curtis Rorebeck of Rorebeck Marini Equity Retail Group. “We’ve got the right momentum going, and we’re on track for BayWalk’s return to prominence.”

The revitalization plan that was initiated over a year ago includes numerous property improvements, enhanced security, better management practices and more frequent events, all designed to increase patron traffic. In addition, the safety enhancements the city is undertaking and physical improvements to the separately-owned Muvico Theaters will help make the new BayWalk a more comfortable and exciting dining, shopping and entertainment destination.

With additional new tenant announcements expected in the near future, ownership is already moving forward with designs for several high-priority physical improvements, which will take a number of months to complete. Ciminelli principal Hunter Swearingen stresses, “Realistically it will take nine to twelve months for the complex to reach its full potential. But there is no need to wait to patronize BayWalk; we are open for business and have a strong group of tenants that has hung in there and is as excited about the future as are we.”
