Douglas and Gordon take top honours at The Negotiator Awards 2009
On the 11th November 2009, London property specialists, Douglas and Gordon, walked away with the Supreme Negotiator Award at one of the premier annual events in the residential property industry. Ivor Dickenson, managing director of Douglas and Gordon, was at the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane to collect the prestigious award on behalf of the respected estate agency.
The Negotiator Awards differ from others in the property market in that contenders aren’t self-nominated, instead, winners are voted for by The Negotiator Awards Academy which consists of 50 of the top performing residential estate agencies in the UK. Important criteria include business performance, leadership, market adaptability and innovation. Contenders for the award included Strut and Parker, Knight Frank and Connells and Savills.
Dickenson has credited the agency’s success to its dedicated, high-calibre staff (over 200 staff members across all departments) and the unique culture cultivated within the company. On winning the award, Dickenson says, “It means a huge amount because it’s acknowledgement of 23 years’ work at the firm, and because it’s the only award out of all the award ceremonies conducted in the estate agency business that you don’t enter yourself for.” He added that the standard of service provided by the other contenders was so high that it made winning all the more meaningful.
All in all, 16 agencies received awards, including:
Independent Estate Agency of the Year: Northfields
Independent Letting Agency of the Year: Accent Property Management
Residential Auctioneer of the Year: Paul Fosh Auctions
Estate Agency Newcomer of the Year: Lawrance Rand
Sponsors included: The Digital Property Group, Richards Gray, Eurolink and Fully Furnished.
In addition to celebrating the top property agents in the UK, the evening served to raise more than £3,000 for Shelter.
