Drs Erik Schmit of StepStone Named To “CAPITAL Leaders of Excellence 2009” Awards
[ 18th Dec, 2009 ], Hong Kong – Drs Erik Schmit of StepStone, one of the world’s largest providers of talent management solutions, was recently awarded a CAPITAL Leaders of Excellence 2009 award, to honor the vital role he played in making entrepreneurial visions a reality and his tremendous contributions to human resources management.
Marking its fourth edition this year, “CAPITAL Leaders of Excellence 2009” was organized by CAPITAL Magazine to honor the distinguished business leaders in the Greater China region during the past year and encourage them to continue to contribute to the prosperity and stability of the society.
In less than two years since Drs Erik Schmit was entrusted with StepStone’s APAC operations covering Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Shanghai, he has managed to position StepStone as a strategic partner with many organizations in the region, and strengthen its seamlessly integrated talent management platform, in line with customer human resources initiatives. Under the current economic downturn, StepStone is playing a more proactive role in corporate strategies with targeted recruiting and optimal employee development and performance management high on the agenda.
Together with the well-aligned StepStone team in APAC, Erik has successfully introduced talent management solutions to over 30 local large enterprises, including JTI, Air New Zealand, May Bank, SIAEC, TuDou, Alibaba, Shangri-La, LG Chemical, NeoDerm, etc., influencing a population of over 300,000 employees across APAC.
The judging criteria for the award were comprehensive and convincing, covering areas such as management and operation models and business philosophy. As the only non-Chinese award winner, Erik has displayed a distinctive management philosophy among local counterparts. With over 10 years’ experience in managing software business in Europe, and as a true believer of Hoshin kanri Strategic management methodology, Erik has blended together the Western style of overt people management and an Asian operation method which emphasizes structure and alignment.
As a strategic appointment to manage APAC operation for StepStone, Erik strives to bring in innovative ideas with proven success in Europe. A recent market move includes launching of an experiential user campaign, which is the 1st ever conducted in APAC. It is expected that such campaign will unveil a deeper insight of employer-staff relations, and bring about industry-wide discussion regarding the dynamics of technology and talent management in APAC.
