Economic Development ; Through SHG

Following is a success story of the organization Social Action of Rural Community(SARC) of sambalpur district and partner of dev4india.
Economic Development ; Through SHG :-
Ainlakani is a remote backward village of Rengali Block of Sambalpur District. The village is surrounded by forest. The main occupations of the villagers are daily wage and cultivation. Still due to lack of sufficient earnings, they were living below poverty line. Feeding two meals per day is not possible.

In the mean time the voluntary organisation SARC had motivated the women of the village and formed a Self Help Group(SHG) named Maa Samaleswari SHG on 18th September 2003, comprising 11 mothers. SARC had encouraged the members to save something every month and take loan when required and do some thing to earn more money. So in this process on 24th October 2005, all the group members had taken individual loan for different productive purposes. Out of them Mrs. Kousalya Parekh and Smt Bilasini Majhi had taken Rs 3000/- each for goatery.

Bilasini Majhi had purchased 3 goats and within one year the numbers of goat had increased to 13. Again in 12 installments (@18% interest) she had cleared her loan by selling 3 goats. In this process she had able to earn nearly Rs 10000/-. But till the end of March 2007 she had 17 goats which costs around Rs 20,000/-. By this process she was able to feed her family and provide education to her children. Similarly, Kousalya Parekh had also progressed by investing the loan money in goatery. After clearing the total loan, she had 12 goats which costs around Rs 15000/-. By watching the progress of this group the nearby groups are encouraged.

Smt Majhi and Parekh say that now they are very happy and are able to meet the requirements of the family smoothly. So they are thankful to SARC for proper and timely guidance.
