A Kings Court Chambers spokesperson said: ?Out of respect for our clients, and those awaiting a decision on their UK Immigration matter, we felt it necessary to make people aware that enhanced checks on applications, following a review of immigration legislation, will result in delays on the decision making process.?
Following the review, new UK Immigration rules came into operation on 13th December 2012, impacting a number of UK Visa routes. The changes have been brought in to combat abuse of the UK Immigration system, particularly the UK Study Visa route.
?In a bid to beat the law changes a flurry of UK Visa applications are understood to have been lodged and it?s our duty to make people aware of the situation, openness and honesty in these circumstances is what?s needed, not excuses,? said a Kings Court Chambers statement.
In a statement from the UK Border Agency they said: ?It?s true that processing times for immigration cases are likely to extend following the review, but this is to ensure that no mistakes are made and that we can eliminate the threat of those abusing the UK Immigration system and entering Britain illegally.?
UK Visa processing times vary depending on location and type of Visa required, Kings Court Chambers understands that most non-settlement applications can take up to 3 months and settlement applications can now take up to 6 months as each case is now subjected to a thorough review.
