Image selection and laser parameters
The first step to a good result is the choice of the right picture. You have to keep an eye on the resolution and the contrast of the image because this influences the engraving process.
On the laser, best results can be achieved with appropriate material parameters. Rule of thumb for photo engravings: less is more! For top engraved photos it is vital to select the correct speed, adjust power settings and lenses.

Tools for Image Processing
Since the resolution and contrast of your image is critical, it is sometimes necessary to adjust the image to make it suitable for laser engraving. Improve the contrast or make the image clearer. Most graphic software packages have these functions built in.
