Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited’s (MMAL) popular city-sized ASX and legendary Pajero have scooped back-to-back titles in the Wheels Magazine Gold Star Value Awards.

Claiming top spot in the Compact SUV segment, the ASX 2WD was praised for its good looks inside and out, reasonable purchase price and outstanding warranty.

Wheels judges described the ASX 2WD as “terrific value,” taking it to top spot ahead of competitors Skoda Yeti and Nissan Dualis.

Low insurance costs, excellent retained value after three years and fuel efficiency of 7.9L/100km for the CVT model also contributed to the ASX 2WD’s win.

In the Large SUV/4×4 category, Mitsubishi’s robust Pajero took first place with the Wheels judges commending the Pajero GL’s “industry best warranty, terrific resale value and cheapest-in-class annual insurance premium.”

The Pajero GL claimed gold ahead of the Toyota Prado and Nissan Patrol with its calculated retained value of 65 per cent after three years and proven durability appealing to the Wheels judges.

MMAL’s CEO, Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, said the company was thrilled to receive the accolades for the second year running.

“Mitsubishi Motors offer value-packed, stylish vehicles and to have this recognized in consecutive years by one of Australia’s top motoring publications is an achievement,” Oshikiri said.

Vehicles were assessed across a range of criteria including warranty, fuel economy, purchase price, depreciation, insurance costs, and service schedules and prices.
