Mobile Apps Hotting Up Events industry in Asia

1

Singapore:  December 2012 – Mobile applications are the rage today, and embraced as marketing tools by many industries.  The events industry in Singapore too is fast adopting mobile applications, more specifically, for meetings, conferences, incentive/travel programs, and exhibitions.  Everything that event organizers wish for in a sales, marketing or communications media, mobile applications have it and affordable too!

Event organizers need a medium that would:  have almost instant speed in communicating information/promotions/;  deliver information or update in real time;  reach out to their clients just about anywhere and at any time;  have delivery costs so low and if possible with no continual running costs even;  be a networking platform to engage their clients – speakers, delegates, exhibitors, visitors, and the public;   And a “CRM tool” to keep them engaged all year round;  cut expenses, by quite a hefty bit and yet serve as a good way to increase revenue;  be one more innovative way to attract sponsorships;   show them as a good corporate citizen; or show corporate responsibility; go green;  in the eyes of all their clients, look professional, trendy, savvy and good.

With the use of mobile applications event organizers can realize all these benefits almost and if not immediately.   Organizers do understand that their customers are IT savvy, quickly keep up with the times and want to progress.  Therefore, they want to be among the first to move ahead with such new IT applications.

Organizers in Singapore and rest of Asia are now making a bee line to be one of the early adopters of mobile apps.  Among the handful of early birds is the 2nd edition of the Singapore MICE Forum  (SMF) 2012 held on 26 and 27 April, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center.  SMF has gone mobile. SMF is using GSI goMobile to power its very own customized event mobile app. With the mobile app, delegates have the following event information right in their palm:   About the event; Program; Speakers; Sponsors.

On top of providing information about the event, GSI goMobile provides the perfect mobile platform to network and forge an exclusive community.  There are 3 key highlights of goMobile’s social networking aspect that make it a favorite among organizers. These features are:  “Connect with the Event Community” – enables exclusive access to connect with registered participants of an event;  “Chat with participants” – enables, speakers, delegates, exhibitors to connect one-on-one with each other;  “Set-up appointments” – enables participants to make full use of their time at the event to make appointments with one other as for eg partners, vendors, customers, exhibitors, etc.

  1. I was going through several websites on event management until I stumbled upon this particular website. Well, nicely put facts. Very true indeed.

Yes, mobile app for events is gaining popularity in Asia and there is no denying this fact. Several Asian countries especially in the eastern fringes like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand are using mobile apps in their day to day event management projects. This mobile tool has made life a lot easier for event planners and most importantly it comes at a very low price.

We live in a time when technology rules the roosts and this fact has been well understood by event planners who try hard to make it easier and smoother for their clients.
