Many visitors had common questions at Pack Expo International 2010, and York Saw and Knife answers them here for anyone who was not able to attend.

Emigsburg, PA, December 16, 2010 — Pack Expo International 2010 was attended by over 44,500 packaging and processing professionals in Chicago from October 31 through November 3, 2010. The reasons for attending were many and varied, from forging face to face connections with colleagues and suppliers, investigating processing and packaging solutions, and keeping up to date on the latest technologies and services in the industries.

York Saw & Knife was there in the thick of things, with their impressive displays and knowledgeable field representatives. The field reps talked with hundreds of visitors over the 4 day event. The displays of industrial knives and blades brought more than a few people in to discuss specific applications. Over the course of the week, however, there were five questions that occurred over and over. In case you missed the event, here are the Top 5 Questions by Pack Expo Visitors:

Q. Where are your machine knives made?

A. York Saw & Knife Company is a manufacturer. All of our custom machine knives and industrial saws are made in house at the Emigsville, Pennsylvania facility. We have been making blades in house for 105 years, and we take pride in our work. Design, manufacture, sharpening, heat treating, we do it all.

Q. How long is the lead time on a ______ knife?

A. This question was often the first, but if not, it was the second. Because we produce everything in house, our lead times are typically 75% shorter than our competition. Really!

Q. What is the minimum order for xxx blade?

A. All of our blades are available in quantities as few as one. Of course we can make as many as you need, too.

Q. How much is xxx knife, and where can I find your pricing?

A. Most of the work that we do at York Saw & Knife is customized for specific needs. We find that even similar applications have different needs, and thus different pricing. We will review your specific requirements and make sure we offer you the right product. As a result, we don’t have a standard price listing for our knives or saws.

Q. I am cutting a new material. Can you help me?

A. We probably will be able to provide a solution for your cutting needs. We do our best to deliver the ultimate cutting edge to you whether you are an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or an end user. We even offer free test cutting for cutoff knife users. There are sometimes applications that we just can’t manage, but we will do our best to refer you to another shop that has the capabilities you need.

In addition to these recurring questions, lots of people came by to ask about their specific cutting needs, from cutting specific materials, making blades from particular metals, or using different coatings on the blades. Some just stopped by to check out our display and make comments on the variety of blades and knives on hand. The York Saw & Knife reps were happy to chat with everyone who stopped by.
