The Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Sligo has revealed that Dublin based couple, Delia Teahan and Neil O’Donnell have won the wedding of their dreams with the hotel.

The competition was announced in the Sligo Champion, with hundreds of entries from couples longing to win a perfect wedding from the Rosses Point hotel. Ten deserving couples were chosen for the final and had to come face to face in the annual ‘Wedding Olympics’ competition which was held in the hotel.

There were several rounds in the Wedding Olympics, including going against the clock dressing their partner in an EJ’s wedding suit, singing alongside band Deja Groove and telling the judges why they deserved to win. For the final, it all came down to a Mr and Mrs Quiz between the remaining two couples, Delia and Neil, and Leitrim couple James Gill and Jenny McKiernan. Delia and Neil pipped James and Jenny to the post, managing to get four questions right and even remembering the first film they saw together in the cinema.

Delia, a Boston native, moved to Dublin after she fell in love with Neil, and the young bride-to-be is really looking forward to her big day in November 2012: “I am really looking forward to bringing my relatives from Boston to see Sligo as the Northwest is really one of our favourite places.” Neil described the competition as nerve-wracking, but can’t believe their luck at winning the wedding.

The Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Sligo General Manager, Fergus O’Donovan, said the day could not have gone better. “We’re delighted with the great turn out for the Wedding Olympics and want to thank everyone who took the time to vote and who came along to the day itself,” he said. “I would like to extend a huge thank you to all the wonderful suppliers who have participated and a special thank you to the couples themselves who have been such good sports.”

Delia and Neil have won all the makings of a wonderful wedding day including: chauffeuring from North West Limos to the Radisson Blu Hotel Sligo which will provide a beautiful wedding reception for up to 120 guests. Salon 2 and Sólás Spa will pamper the bride, her mother and the bridesmaids and Alice Ann Bridal House will supply the bridesmaids’ dresses. EJ’s Menswear will provide the groomswear and Feehily’s Florist will work closely with Delia and Neil to ensure their bouquets and buttonholes compliment their chosen bridal wear.

The Benbulben Suite at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Sligo will be dressed in crisp white linen, with the hotel’s signature candlelit centrepieces and personalised menus, and the damask and organza covers will be provided by Wedding Chair Covers. The entertainment will be provided by DJ Scruffy Duffy and live band Deja Groove, while David Knight photography will capture the whole day in stunning images to be treasured forever.
