Zenius Unveils Industry’s First Universal NFC Transactions Suite

Provides NFC interoperability to virtually all mobile, POS and backend systems

San Francisco – March 29, 2011 – Zenius Solutions, Inc. has introduced the world’s first universal NFC Transactions Suite, a modular set of frameworks and applications that facilitate rapid NFC deployment. The innovative Suite features the Zenius NFC Framework, an NFC hardware abstraction layer; Zenius Mobile Wallet, a re-brandable electronic wallet that enables users to select and manage applications; Zenius Open-loop MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover applets; and Zenius White-label card applications, an essential group of closed-loop NFC applications that add new revenue streams to NFC offerings. In addition, Zenius released M-Transact, groundbreaking software that turns NFC-enabled smart phones into NFC acceptance point-of-sale (POS) and transaction devices; and Zenius TransactionServer, an advanced transaction server supporting the Zenius White-label applications.

Supporting virtually all mobile devices, point-of-sale (POS), and transactional backend systems, the NFC Transactions Suite enables all mobile payment stakeholders—carriers, banks, issuers, merchants, marketers, developers, and manufacturers—to come together and deploy the mobile payment applications and systems so they can profit from the potential $119 billion in goods and services that consumers can purchase using their mobile phones. “The market desperately needed a hardware agnostic architecture that supports the global NFC ecosystem,” said John Wiese, President and CEO. “That’s why we have been working closely with all major and emerging enablers in the value chain to build an interoperable system from the ground up that can both fuel and accommodate rapid growth in demand.”

The Zenius NFC Framework, Open-loop payment solutions and White-label applications are available for integration starting today. The Framework makes it possible for payments, transportation, loyalty, access, and identity providers to rapidly develop NFC applications for their entire customer base and easily supports multiple secure elements on virtually all mobile phone platforms. Available immediately, the Suite features:

• Open-loop apps build on the Zenius NFC architecture, providing brand-leading credit card payment solutions for MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. Zenius White-label apps are an integrated group of NFC closed-loop applications that allow issuers to easily add essential NFC apps to their solution portfolios. All White-label apps can be re-branded.

• Zenius Mobile Wallet is a full-featured electronic wallet that can be re-branded or used as a reference implementation. Zenius Mobile Wallet features a GUI that permits the user to select as many as desired of secure open-loop payment, private payment, loyalty, tickets, coupons, transport, identity, access, and gift card applications from a single wallet.

• Zenius M-Transact is a breakthrough product bringing merchant point-of-sale (POS) acceptance to popular smart phones including the Google Nexus S. M-Transact goes beyond a traditional payment acceptance device by supporting the complete set of open- and closed-loop applications. The software accelerates the NFC acceptance infrastructure, enabling merchants, transportation providers and even consumers to accept transactions using mobile phones. Like most of the Zenius products, M-Transact can be rebranded.

• TransactionServer, which is used with M-Transact, is a powerful backend solution for processing closed-loop transactions, designed to handle high transaction volumes. It integrates with current authorization systems making it too easy to transition to NFC.

Zenius is currently demonstrating the power of the NFC Transactions Suite at the Alternative Payments Systems Innovations summit using the Apple iPhone as the payment device and a Google Android Nexus S as the acceptance device.
