Hosted by Beijing MiDi Music School, the Midi Awards brings together some of China’s best musicians. The Midi Appraisal Committee, tasked with annually selecting China’s most outstanding rock bands and music, is composed of various industry professionals, including musicians, music producers, tour agent, record labels and other relating organizations.

In order to encourage more musicians to get involved in music making, the MiDi Appraisal Committee has added the Best Folk Music category to the 12 other awards this year. The 3rd Annual Midi Awards Live will take a place at the 3rd floor of Beijing Tango on 10th December 2011.

Winners from the two prior Midi Awards reads like a who’s who of China’s rock scene. The band Tong Yang had won the Best Rock Performance by Group with Vocals two years in a row, with Xie Tianxiao winning the Best Live Performance and Best Male Rock Vocal Performance in the first two Midi Award. The Best Female Rock Vocal Performance has gone to both Feng Haining and Fu Han. The Song Of The Year was awarded to “An Yang”and “Sheng Kai” from the band Tong Yang, while Album Of The Year went to “Don’t stop my music” also from Tong Yang as well as “Shi Ni” by Fan Guang Jing. Other winners have included Tong Yang and Twisted (Best Hard Rock Performance), AK47 and Ye Cha (Best Metal Performance), Perdel and Nanwu (Best New Artist Reward).
