The excitement of an appraisal fair combined with the thrill of an antique show , is what visitors can look forward to this coming February at the 4th Annual Greene County Antique Appraisal Fair
Greeneville, Tennessee, December 19, 2008 — Each week antiques & collectibles appraisers on TV programs such as The Antiques Road Show and Cash in the Attic thrill audiences with the amazing treasures hiding in their homes. Now residents and visitors to Greeneville, Tennessee can share in the excitement of that experience at the Fourth Annual Antique Appraisal Fair and Antique Show.
The antique fair is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2009 between 10 am and 5 pm and will be held at the Greeneville High School on Tusculum Boulevard. During those hours, certified appraisers will be on hand to offer their expert opinions on everything from old stamps, vases, paintings, furniture, and just about anything that’s antique or collectible. Although admission to the event is free, there is a small fee of $5 for each item an attendee would like to have appraised. All of the proceeds raised from the appraisals will be used to print and distribute the Antiques and Treasures brochure that is published and distributed by the Greene County Partnership’s Tourism Department.
In addition to the appraisals, local antique shops and dealers will be offering a wide variety of vintage merchandise for sale. Displays of antiques from local museums and historic organizations will also be on display. Greeneville offers a large selection of antiques and collectibles shops which have become a popular destination for visitors and locals alike. The area also offers a diverse and fascinating array of historical attractions that include the birth place of Davy Crockett, the Cherokee National Forest, the home of President Andrew Johnson, and the President Andrew Johnson Museum & Library at Tusculum College.
This year’s Antique Appraisal Fair and Antique Show is expected to dwarf last year’s event which included 3,500 attendees who had over 750 items appraised. In 2008 the show was awarded the Pinnacle Award for Peak Performance in Tourism and was named one of the “Top 25†February events by the Southeast Tourism Association.
