A Child’s Hope Sponsors 5K Classic Fun Run
Downtown Raleigh Event Scheduled for May 2
RALEIGH, N.C. (March 30, 2010)—A Child’s Hope (www.achildshope.com), a licensed North Carolina adoption agency, is sponsoring the 1-Mile Fun Run as part of the 10th annual Second Empire 5K Classic (www.secondempireraceraleigh.com). The fundraising event will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2010 in downtown Raleigh. Proceeds will benefit Hopeful Parents, a nonprofit organization that provides community support to adoptive and birth families.

“The 5K Classic helps raise awareness of adoption in North Carolina,” says E. Parker Herring, co-director of A Child’s Hope. “We are proud to lend our support behind this wonderful event. We are sponsoring the 1-Mile Fun Run because we want adoptive families to bring their children and have a great time together.”

Located in Raleigh, A Child’s Hope is directed by two experienced adoption attorneys—Parker Herring and Bobby Mills. For 10 years, they have created a loving and supportive environment for birthparents, as well as adoptive families. The agency matches North Carolina birthmothers with prospective North Carolina adoptive parents. During the process, both adoptive and birth parents receive extensive counseling. The agency has placed more than 240 babies since its inception in 1999.
The Second Empire 5K Classic includes a competitive and non-competitive 5K run/walk, a one-mile recreational run/walk and a kids’ dash. The event will also include an adoption expo with professionals from North Carolina-based organizations on hand to speak with participants. Individuals can register for the race at http://tinyurl.com/5KClassic2010.
“We are so thankful for the support of A Child’s Hope,” says Kim Reynolds, Second Empire Restaurant and Tavern owner and founder of the 5K Classic. “It is the generosity from the community that makes our event a success each year and allows us to help nonprofits fulfill their missions.”
