Add Another Celebrity to the Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame

Patti LaBelle has become the latest woman chosen for the Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame. The R&B Singer/Actress joins fellow celebrities Diane Keaton, Vanessa Williams, and Reba McEntire, along with nearly 90 other women from the United States and Australia.

The idea to establish a Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame is the brainchild of baby boomer author and self-proclaimed “baby boomer diva” Beverly Mahone. She says, “This is my way to recognize baby boomer women who are on the move and making a difference. Ms. LaBelle has long been in the forefront of women’s causes like menopause and breast cancer.” Ms. Mahone applauds Ms. LaBelle’s outspokenness; referring to a comment she made recently during the finale of NBC-TV’s Clash of the Choirs. Mahone says, “When Patti was asked what she thought of each choir, the first thing out of her mouth was ‘Honey, I’m in menopause!’ She wasn’t afraid to let the world know she was going through the change.”

Mahone says the idea to create the internet notoriety site came to her when she looked around and saw all of the talented women over 40. “Hollywood and the media want us to believe a woman has to be young and beautiful to be successful but that’s simply not true, contends Mahone. “By the time we reach 40-years-old, we are in the prime of our lives. We’ve overcome obstacles. We’re more focused.”

To qualify for the Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame, Ms. Mahone says a woman must meet the following criteria (with some exceptions made):

1) Born between 1946 and 1960

2) Pursuing her passion in life

3) Striving to help others succeed

4) Have overcome one major personal or professional challenge/obstacle

5) Accept aging with grace, dignity and style

Mahone points out the fact that she wants everyone to know that being 40 and over doesn’t mean women have lost their stride. “I want the world to know we’ve just made prime time baby!” To see the entire group of women or to nominate a baby boomer woman who meets the qualifications, visit Ms. Mahone’s website: http://www.enjoyyourmenopause.com.
