Allergy treatment discussed as solution to asthma

A

Family Allergy Clinic, an Arizona allergist clinic, has been treating more than allergies for the last 20 years. Family Allergy Clinic has also been providing asthma care and surprising their clients with amazing relif results. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 23 million people suffer from asthma in the U.S. That figure has increased by more than 60 percent since the early 1980s and includes more than six million children.

But in spite of the increase, many treatment options remain costly and ineffective. Most asthma is treated with prescription drugs that range from $300 to $1200 a month, or painful allergy shots. The problem with asthma medications, though, is that they don’t offer permanent solutions; they merely address the symptoms and are often only semi-effective in doing that.

But there is hope for a better solution, and it lies in allergy treatment. Studies show that the majority of asthma problems are a result of allergies and that when you treat the allergies, the asthma diminishes, too—for the long-term.

Dr. Stuart Agren, allergy doctor and owner of the Family Allergy Clinic in Mesa, Arizona, believes that allergy treatment is under-used in dealing with asthma.

“Many medical professionals overlook the fact that allergy and asthma are linked,” said Dr. Agren.

Dr. Agren has found that at least 90 percent of his asthmatic patients show marked reduction in their asthma symptoms after just two to three months of allergy treatment, including kids allergies, with most being able to significantly reduce their asthma medications.

Dr. Agren said many people shy away from allergy treatment because they are afraid of shots, but his program allows patients to take their allergy serum through oral drops instead of through painful injections.

“It’s fast, it’s convenient, and it’s one of the few options for actually getting rid of asthma rather than just putting a band-aid on the symptoms.”
