Get on your Bikes and Ride …

The New Hope-Solebury Community Association and the Tara L. Riedley Foundation have announced their partnership in creating the inaugural Cycle Bucks County charity bike ride, a one-day bicycle tour designed to raise funds and community awareness for the two Bucks County organizations whose missions are focused on furthering education and opportunity for all. The ride will take place on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at New Hope-Solebury High School.

The Tara L. Riedley Foundation was founded in 2009 following the untimely death of Tara Riedley, a Bucks County-native who valued education, voluntarism and community, and whose zest for healthy activity and adventure makes the Foundation’s involvement in Cycle Bucks County a natural fit.

“The people in Bucks County were so compassionate, generous and caring to us when Tara passed away. We felt that her death should not be the end of a life but a beginning,” explains Ginny Riedley, Tara’s mother and the director of the Foundation that bears her daughter’s name. “She worked hard for charities she cared about and had a love for this wonderful community in which she grew up. Partnering with the New Hope-Solebury Community Association to raise money for the education of its residents – through a fun, healthy and adventurous activity – is something that Tara would have thoroughly supported.”

The ride is open to all levels of cyclists, from beginner to serious. Participants choose from three routes ranging in length from 10 to 60 miles, winding through the scenic roadways of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Rest stops and support are provided on all routes. A vendor expo, one mile kids fun ride and children’s activities will take place throughout the day at New Hope-Solebury High School, where the ride will begin and end. At the conclusion of the race, participants and volunteers will enjoy a celebratory lunch.

“Every year I have noticed the ever increasing number or bicycle riders on the back roads of Bucks County and the popularity of the professional bike race in Doylestown each fall,” says Roger Riedley, of the New Hope-Solebury Community Association. “It was clear that having an organized family ride in the New Hope area would offer our community members and visitors, alike, access to another healthy activity through which they can explore our region, while helping us reach our fundraising goals.”

Participation costs $55 (18 and over) and includes free t-shirt before June 1st, and $65 per cyclist 18 and over after June 1st through the day of the event. Special family pricing is available at the rate of $50 per family (2 adults/2 children) for the 10 mile ride only. Junior riders (ages 12-17) are $25, while children under 12, who must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older or have a waiver signed by a guardian 18 or older) is $5.

Additional details and registration info is available at www.cyclebuckscounty.org.

The ride also provides an opportunity for riders in Bucks County – and beyond – to socialize either as a participant or a volunteer.

About Tara L. Riedley Foundation
The Tara L. Riedley Foundation was founded by family, friends and associates of Tara Riedley, a Bucks-County native who tragically and suddenly passed away in 2008 at the age of 30. A graduate of Duke University and Boston College Law School, Tara was a practicing attorney who, despite her busy schedule, always gave her time and talents to support charitable causes, many related to children, families in need and educational opportunities for the less fortunate. The Foundation was established to keep Tara’s legacy of academic excellence and voluntarism alive, while celebrating her adventurous and compassionate spirit. Through its Board of Directors, the Foundation supports a portfolio of non-profit organizations from coast to coast that furthers Tara’s message of hope, education and opportunity for all.
