Luzern, LU, Switzerland, January 13, 2012 — With the ”Passwort“ app, it is no longer necessary to save the login data (web address, username and password) in a file or list. Instead, the app generates secure passwords by using the web site address, the username and a master password. Because the app uses a deterministic password generation algorithm, it does not need to save the passwords on the iPhone, nor do they have to be synchronized with a desktop computer.
Other iOS devices set with the same master password will generate the same passwords for the same username and web site names.
Configuring multiple iOS devices with the same master password in one or several of the four password categories will produce the very same passwords on all devices in those categories.
The password generation algorithm is free and can be downloaded at GitHub. It may be used with other products and on web sites. This prevents users from vendor-locking. The users are not bound to a certain vendor.
