New York, NY, August 28, 2009 — Edcomm Banker’s Academy has recently updated Focus on Compliance for Credit Unions to include the new amendments to the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA). The Focus on RESPA and Required Disclosures topic of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) module of Focus on Compliance for Credit Unions has been revised as part of Edcomm Banker’s Academy commitment to providing the most up-to-date financial services information.

According to the new amendments under RESPA, mortgage brokers and lenders are required to use a new Good Faith Estimate (GFE) form, revised HUD-1 and HUD-1A Settlement Statements and a revised Special Information Booklet by January 1, 2010. The amendments also require more timely and effective disclosures of loan terms and closing costs that consumers pay when buying or refinancing a home. The Act affects all policies, procedures and documents for mortgage lending.
