Bend, Oregon Restaurant awarded the 2010 Restaurant Neighbor Award by the Oregon Restaurant and Lodging Association

Bend, OR, August 05, 2010 — Recognized for its philanthropic efforts to benefit Central Oregon Community College Foundation’s, Anthony’s at the Old Mill District, a Bend, Oregon restaurant, was named yesterday as one of three state recipients of the 2010 Restaurant Neighbor Award by the Oregon Restaurant and Lodging Association (ORLA). Specifically noted was the restaurant’s “Feast in the Old Mill” event.

For five consecutive years, Anthony’s at the Old Mill District has hosted “The Feast at the Old Mill” to support Central Oregon Community College Foundation’s culinary endowment and capital campaign. The event, a donated “buy-out” including the venue, all food and labor, supports an annual fundraiser for the school’s endowment and capital campaign for an expanded, top-flight culinary program. Anthony’s “Feast” events have already contributed more than $100,000.

“We so appreciate what Anthony’s at the Old Mill is making possible and congratulate the restaurant on this deserving award,” said Jim Weaver, executive director of the COCC Foundation. “The spirit and generosity behind ‘The Feast’ events embody the best of community and the best of Central Oregon.”

Anthony’s is committed to being a part of each of the local communities where its restaurants are located, and giving back is both a corporate ethic and a personal philosophy of Anthony’s Restaurants’ president and owner Budd Gould.

“Our restaurant team is delighted to be recognized through this award, and to bring more awareness to the outstanding culinary program at Central Oregon Community College,” Gould said. “Anthony’s is proud to extend its resources wherever possible, and we look forward to the next ‘Feast’ Sept. 28.”

Anthony’s at the Old Mill District (475 SW Powerhouse Dr.), along with the Portland locations of Kells Irish Restaurant and Pub and The Old Spaghetti Factory, comprise the three Oregon state winners of the 2010 Restaurant Neighbor Award. All are automatically entered for the national award for community service, as announced by Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Association (ORLA). Anthony’s Restaurants in Washington also received a state honor in 2001, and in 2003 it took both state and national awards. The Restaurant Neighbor Award was created by the National Restaurant Association (NRA) to recognize restaurants that exemplify the industry’s philanthropic spirit. Learn more here.
