The BFA, a non-government, non-profit international organization, initiated in 1998 by Fidel V. Ramos, former President of the Philippines, Bob Hawke, former Prime Minister of Australia and Morihiro Hosokawa, former Prime Minister of Japan, was formally inaugurated in February 2001. The forum is committed to promoting regional economic integration and bringing Asian countries closer to their development goals. Illustrating the principles of the World Economic Forum, BFA provides an opportunity for global thought leaders to share their vision on the most pressing issues in Asian economies and the world at large. This ninth BFA Annual Conference 2009 will be held between April 17th and 19th in thetown of Boao, Hainan Province, China.

The theme of this year’s event is “Asia: Managing Beyond Crisis”. Over the three days of the conference, delegates will debate and discuss the impact of the crisis on Asia and how the region can weather these challenges as effectively as possible. The event will also attach much importance on the increasing role that emerging economies play in the global financial arena. Several issues related to Corporate Governance, Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance will be discussed at the conference including How the Markets Can Drive Asia’s Recovery, Reforming the International Financial System and the Role of Emerging Markets, Balancing Financial Innovation, Openness and Oversight, Future of Cleantech and Managing in Periods of Volatility.

Speaking on the topic “SME Strategies: Attracting Talent, Securing Financing & Achieving Growth”, Mr. Sinha will be exploring how, even in down times, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) demonstrate a remarkable ability to innovate and demonstrate an incredible resilience and potential to generate new jobs. He will share his experience from building several companies from start-up stage to successful acquisitions and public stock listings to illustrate how to overcome difficulty in attracting talent, how to secure capital and how companies can weather the recession through innovative strategies. Joining him, along with other distinguished panelists, will be James H. Quigley, CEO of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
