Bonnie Terry Learning Introduces Tools To Improve Reading Comprehension And Writing Skills

B

September 13, 2010- Bonnie Terry Learning releases new tools to help parents and children improve reading comprehension and writing skills in time for the opening of the new school season. The tool addresses the Roadblocks to Reading and is made specifically to address the needs of children who are either dyslexic, ‘falling through the cracks’ at school, potentially gifted or identified with learning disabilities. The tools improve reading comprehension and writing skills of children.

The new tools are the following:

* Making Spelling Sense I and II utilize codes that encompass the eight spelling patterns or eight ways to put letters together. By teaching the 8 spelling patterns through stories, kids will be able to understand how we put letters together to make words and learn to spell with ease.

* Five Minutes to Better Reading Skills is a system that incorporates visual tracking and other visual processing activities into 5-minute fluency practice sessions.

* Ten Minutes to Better Study Skills uses graphic organizers (fill-in-the-blank forms) to make note-taking, paragraph writing, and essay writing easy. The graphic organizers keep children from being ‘frozen’, staring at blank sheets of paper. Instead children fill-in-the-blanks and find they have written a paragraph. Writing skills improve quickly.

* The Comprehension Zone: Rocket Rap is a game designed to help children find the main idea, details, or sequence what they read while playing. The Comprehension Zone: Rocket Rap also makes note-taking easier. Good notes include the main idea and details. Children learn how to find the main idea and details by playing a game do better at note taking because they have learned the skill while playing.

Bonnie Terry, M. Ed., BCET the creator of the lessons developed the tools herself. She says that her own experience as a mother and learning disabilities specialist prompted her to develop these spedial learning tools. “Most of my students faced this problem at one time or another. But when writing assignments consistently overwhelmed one of my own children, the problem really hit home!”

Margie C., a satisfied mother and client, has this to say: “My son couldn’t write or spell, even math was difficult for him. Our lives changed when we found your system… He started liking school. He became a confident learner. In fact, by the time he was in 4th grade, he was at the top of his class.”
