The Beyond the Border International Contemporary Art Fair is dedicated to exploring new contemporary art practices from this region and beyond. San Diego, with its close proximity to Mexico, is a natural arena to stage the first bi-national art fair on the West Coast, and the ideal city to present an objective representation of the overlapping art activity that is taking place along the Pacific Rim.

San Diego, CA July 09, 2009 — The Beyond the Border International Contemporary Art Fair is dedicated to exploring new contemporary art practices from this region and beyond. San Diego, with its close proximity to Mexico, is a natural arena to stage the first bi-national art fair on the West Coast, and the ideal city to present an objective representation of the overlapping art activity that is taking place along the Pacific Rim.

Beyond the Border International Contemporary Art Fair will provide a forum to showcase the collective artistic talent from this region along side the talent of international artists. Over three-days, exhibitors, keynote speakers and special attractions are geared to promote the importance of international art, cultural leadership and intercultural dialogue among novice as well as established collectors.

Artists will discuss new contemporary art practices and explore issues relating to identity, new urbanism, and new mediums.

Event Overview:
San Diego’s first Beyond the Border International Contemporary Art Fair (BTB), taking place at the luxurious Grand Del Mar Resort in Del Mar, California on September 2-4, 2009, is a 3-day contemporary art fair that will include national and international galleries featuring over 500 juried works by established and emerging contemporary artists from all over the world, exhibiting in The Grand Del Mar’s expansive ballroom accompanied by numerous luxury exhibitors, food and wine events, and curated art installations. The event will showcase over $4 million in artwork coupled with sponsors such as Maserati, Modern Luxury Media, Qualcomm, Christie’s, The American Institute of Wine and Food, The California Bipolar Foundation, Lugano Diamonds, and many others.

The public is invited to attend the event, which marks the first time these national and international galleries with investment-grade art will be presented in San Diego. In addition, in collaboration with QUALCOMM and International Artist Brenda Regier, we are unveiling ReEnVisioning a World Beyond Borders, an international cell-phone project spanning 15 countries. A large-scale high-tech digital installation of this project will be featured at the fair. The works will be published in Qualcomm’s global marketing materials, and will also travel around the world to requested installation venues and be posted to the Web.
