Newport News, VA – August 3, 2010 – Burlington Medical Supplies has introduced a new protective x-ray apron to its inventory. The innovative design is now available for order. It features a single garment that is easier to put on and lighter to wear while providing radiation protection for doctors, technologists, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
The Euro1 is a full length, one-piece apron with a solid front panel featuring minimal overlap. An elastic stretch back and Velcro closure distributes weight from the shoulders to the hips. This allows for more freedom of body movement and reduces fatigue. This is beneficial for healthcare professionals wearing the apron for long periods of time during lengthy procedures.
“This new design features the best parts of our popular two-piece Peak Vest and Kilt combined into a one-piece garment,” said Dennis Swartz, founder of Burlington Medical. “Our customers have been looking for a style that has the protection afforded by a kilt and vest combination without the extra weight and overlapping material that can be uncomfortable and heavy, as well as cumbersome to put on and store.”
The Euro1 apron slips on over the arms and has a single Velcro closure at the shoulder and one on each hip. The apron is available in three different types of protective materials, including Burlington Medical’s proprietary Envirolite, which contains no lead and is up to 40% lighter than traditional lead. The Euro1 apron is also offered with custom sizing, personalized embroidery and more than 90 fabric and 80 design choices.
“This apron is one of the easiest styles to fit and is adaptable to a wide range of body sizes and shapes,” said Swartz. “This enables us to provide better coverage on all body types. It is also helpful for work environments that stock a number of unisex aprons for all employees to share.” The Euro1 is also available in a customized fit for those that have their own personalized x-ray aprons.

The website includes an industry first apron builder that takes customers through the step-by-step process of customizing their apron.
