With charities ranging from animal shelters, food banks, childrens charities to the Canadian Cancer Society they really have a charity to suit any donor.

Toronto, Ontario, July 28, 2009 — The Charity Car program began almost four years ago and was founded by a local Toronto company, Standard Auto Wreckers (www.StandardAutoWreckers.com), they are pioneers in eco-friendly auto recycling and wanted to do more for their local charities. Just four years later they have just brought on their 100th charity partner and are pleased to announce that it is the London Food Bank.

We asked spokesperson Carmen Wright about how it feels to hit one hundred active charity partners and her response was very humbling, she says; “When we started out it was just three of us sitting around the lunchroom table wondering whether our fellow Canadians would be interested in donating the proceeds of their recycled vehicles to charit. At the time we thought partnering up with two or three local charities would serve the cause well. And look at us four years later with 100 charities across North America!”

With charities ranging from animal shelters, food banks, childrens charities to the Canadian Cancer Society they really have a charity to suit any donor. But just-in-case you have your heart set on helping a specific charity you can request the proceeds sent anywhere you please. Most recently they had a Childrens Wish granted to a sick youngster that wanted to go to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower.

With the recession still looming large in the USA and with many folks in Canada still feeling the pinch, you would think that charity donations are down but it appears the opposite is happening with a high majority of auto recycling proceeds being directed to charitable organizations. Carmen says about this phenomenon, “Even though everyone is a little worried about paying their own bills, most everyone I talk to when handling car donations forms say it really makes them feel good to give back to their neighbors in needs. Besides they also get a tax receipt to submit with their yearly income taxes.”

Car donations are accepted over the internet though www.CharityCar.ca and www.CharityCar.us – You can also find their toll free numbers on those websites. So do your part and ‘go green’!
