This year’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Excellence Awards will be a double celebration as the organisation turns 60 this year.

Marking the celebration, the CIPR have added an extra award to this year’s ceremony – the 60th Anniversary Award – which will be handed to the best communicator and the best journalist.

Colin Farringdon, the director general of the organisation, confirmed that this year was particularly special for the CIPR.

He said: “This year’s Excellence Awards will serve as a double celebration. The awards already showcase the excellent work carried out by the public relations industry and the contribution this makes to business.

Mr Farringdon added: “However, because this is the CIPR’s 60th Anniversary year, all eyes will be on 2008’s awards as they represent just how far the industry has come.”

The closing date for entries for the award is 5pm on February 29th.
