Chef Eric Paul combines his passion for food and business to create Alter EatGo and combat the rising rate of obesity by making healthy eating fun, convenient, and affordable.

Chicago, IL, Dec 05, 2007 The Alter EatGo ready-to-eat meal service was created by Chef Eric Paul to provide a convenient and affordable solution to combat the rising rate of obesity within the African American community. It is estimated that 64% of the American population is overweight or obese. Overweight and obesity in the U.S. occur at higher rates in ethnic minority populations such as African American and Hispanic Americans. Cultural factors that influence dietary and exercise behaviors are reported to play a major role in the development of excess weight. Many obesity-related diseases including diabetes, hypertension, cancer and heart disease are found in higher rates among various members of ethnic minorities. With the rising rate of health risks within the African American community, there is definitely a demand for more nutritious dining options to help consumers lead a healthier lifestyle. Finally, there is solution to help deter the rising rate of health risks within this community and it’s called Alter EatGo.

Chef Eric Paul, Executive Chef and creator of Alter EatGo says, “Many of my clients simply have no idea what the proper portion size is nor do they have time to do menu planning, shopping and cooking. Alter EatGo prepares its fresh meals for time deprived individuals and families who want convenient, affordable, and delicious cuisine. I am very proud that I have created a company that addresses the demand for healthier dining options within my community.”

All the Alter EatGo meals are pre-cooked so all that’s needed is to re-heat in certain instances. Their chefs will be students who are highly skilled in the culinary arts, having been trained at some of Chicago’s top culinary schools. They incorporate global flavors to provide delectable American, Asian, Latin, Southern, and other ethnic dishes. Their unique blend of herbs and spices combined with lean sources of protein, heart healthy produce and whole grains, make eating with Alter EatGo a truly delicious experience.

The Alter EatGo meal plan is simple – it consists of 21 freshly prepared healthy meals weekly and comes in either 1200, 2000, or 3000 calories per day with an option to choose two snacks per day. The plan follows the guidelines of USDA and health and nutrition experts by being low in fat, portion and calorie conscious, sodium restricted, and low in cholesterol. The menu provides variety since it rotates on a 5-week schedule, so customers don’t eat the same thing twice during the 5-week period. There are no contracts to sign or enrollment fees. The plan is very convenient because clients can have the meals delivered to their home or office twice each week.

Unlike fad diets, which are usually short term weight loss solutions, Alter EatGo offers well balanced meals based on the USDA Food Pyramid system and advocates physical activity and behavioral modification. Not only does Alter EatGo meal program address proper nutrition, but they are partnering with fitness facilities and personal trainers to help increase the physical activity levels of their clients. “It’s about creating nutritious meal options and advocating physical activity so our customers can maintain their health over a lifetime”, says Chef Eric Paul.
