A tenant tried to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher, but was unsuccessful as the flames quickly spread throughout the building.
Another recent dryer fire caused minimal damage to the second floor of a home in Maycrest Village. A 49 year old resident tried to stomp out the flames and received burns to his feet. Firefighters helped seniors living on the second and third floors out of the building while it was being ventilated.
