Christmas Competition looks to reward West Yorkshire’s Unsung Heroes

C

The competition aims to uncover the stories of people who don?t normally get the recognition they deserve for helping others or who have succeeded against the odds.

People are being asked to nominate someone they think has overcome adversity, been an unsung hero or worked selflessly for someone else’s cause.

Scott Banks Hair Salon in Wakefield has come together with Catherine Elizabeth Make up & Beauty, House Of Colour Wakefield and Wakefield Hospice to offer the prize The makeover includes a new hairstyle and colour, a skin care regime and make up lesson and finished off with a colour or styling session.

Scott Banks of Scott Banks Hair Salon says: ?We thought it was the time of year where we should think about others and put something together to make one person?s life better in some small way.?

?We?re hoping to find someone we can deliver an unexpected surprise to and who deserves to be treated like royalty for a day.?

?There are a lot of awards for people in sports or the media at this time of year; but there are a lot of unsung heroes who wouldn?t normally get the chance to be recognised.?

?There aren?t awards for looking after your kids single handed, volunteering at a local charity or overcoming a serious illness. If we can say thank you I?m sure it can make a world of difference.
