Cindy Stranad Earns Accreditation in Public Relations

RALEIGH, N.C. (July 8, 2009)—Cindy Stranad, principal and founder of Articulon (www.articulon.com), a Raleigh-based branding and public relations firm, has successfully completed the Examination for Accreditation in Public Relations, entitling her to use the APR professional designation.

The accreditation program assesses competence in 60 areas of knowledge, skills and abilities associated with the profession. The examination targets public relations professionals with at least seven years of industry experience and/or a bachelor’s degree in a communication field.

“Earning the APR reflects the mastery of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to succeed in our increasingly complex profession,” says Felicia Blow, APR, 2009 chair of the Universal Accreditation Board. “Practitioners who achieve the designation are demonstrating their commitment not only to the public relations profession, but also to a strong code of ethics and to the betterment of their clients.”

Candidates are granted the APR distinction after successfully completing a rigorous process, including presenting their portfolio to a review panel and sitting for a computer-based examination. The honor is presented by the Public Relations Society of America and announced by the Universal Accreditation Board, which directs the competency certification program.
