COLOPLAST REWARDS ITS STAFF WITH HOLIDAY OF A LIFETIME

Peterborough-based medical devices company Coloplast (www.coloplast.com) has shown its staff how much it values their hard work and dedication – by sending three of them on all-expenses paid holidays to St Lucia!

Coloplast understands the importance of rewarding its staff and every year it announces its Sales Person of the Year and Employee of the Year. This year’s winners, Alan Roberts (Continence Care Division) and Alex Wilson (Ostomy Division), both won Sales Person of the Year, and Vince Quarizzo who was named Employee of the Year. All three showed dedication to their jobs, inspired others with their passion and went the extra mile to help others.

Asked if he was surprised when he was announced as Coloplast’s Employee of the Year, Vince, who lives and works in Peterborough, said: “I was surprised when I found out I’d been nominated, but to have won, I was gobsmacked! Being nominated was a great feeling, knowing that someone thought I was worthy of being named Employee of the Year. Then to be told I’d won, it was just amazing.

“In my role within the customer care department I am able to make a difference to people’s lives. Knowing you can make a real difference, that you can help make someone’s life as normal as possible, it drives you. My manager said that my passion for my work and my drive to achieve goals helped me win the award but, for me, it’s all part of my job. I wouldn’t dream of working any other way.”

The prize of a holiday in St Lucia is particularly special for Vince, who recently became a father. “We never dreamt that our first family holiday would be a luxury holiday in St Lucia – I still can’t quite believe it!”

For Alan Roberts it was a double celebration as he was told during the company’s recent sales conference in Portugal that he had been promoted to senior territory manager within the Continence Division and, the next day, was announced as one of the two winners of the Sales Person of the Year award.

Speaking about winning the award, Alan said: “I was nominated last year but didn’t win, so when I found out I’d been nominated two years running I was delighted. When they announced that I’d won, I was ecstatic.

“I’ve been at Coloplast for two and a half years. During that time I have built up a rapport with my customers, I’ve worked with nurses and carers to support patients who have just come out of hospital and I have worked hard to deliver on Coloplast’s values and beliefs. To me it’s about more than just meeting targets. I believe in leading by example and being a good role model for the new starters.”

Alex Wilson, senior territory manager for Coloplast’s Ostomy Division in East Anglia, was also named Sales Person of the Year. He said: “When they announced my name I felt really proud. I’ve worked for Coloplast for seven years; four years in the Urology and Continence Care Division and two years in the Ostomy Division, so to win the award after seven years was an honour.

“Going the extra mile comes as standard at Coloplast. It’s a high achieving company, we all work hard to meet targets and deliver the level of service that makes a real difference to our customers.”

Asked for an example of when he has gone the extra mile, Alex spoke about a Friday evening that he drove to Biggleswade – a round trip of 80 miles – to deliver products to a gentleman that had run out of supplies. To Alex it wasn’t a big deal: “I was just doing my job,” he commented, “delivering products to a customer in need.” It’s events like this that led to Alex being named Sales Person of the Year.

Alex added: “At Coloplast it’s not what you do, it’s how well you do it. Quality activity achieves real results – results that make a difference to people’s lives. At Coloplast, it’s all in a day’s work.”
