Berlin, Germany, the city of Berlin, Germany, Europe and the World celebrated the 20-year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Leaders from around the world gathered in Berlin to mark this special event highlighted by the symbolic toppling of 1000 giant foam ‘Berlin Wall’ domino pieces hand painted by students, youth groups and artists from across the globe made possible by the Goethe-Institut.
On hand for this special event, and having the honour of toppling the domino stones were Nobel Prize Laureates Muhammad Yunus, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Lech Walesa as well as Former German Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Hans-Dietrich Genscher and Former President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Havel.
Their efforts and contributions have shaped the world and have made it possible for millions of people to live with the freedoms many of us take for granted.
