ControlCase demonstrates data discovery solution which has been developed to meet PCI compliance requirements and reduce the risk of data breach and exposure. Interest from large and small companies alike up significantly over prior quarter.

McLean, VA, United States, October 24, 2011 — ControlCase, a leading supplier of IT Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) software solutions and managed compliance services, attended the PCI Security Standards Council’s (PCI SSC) European Community Meeting which was held in London earlier this week. At the conference, data discovery was a major talking point for many of the delegates that attended. Previously, data discovery was perceived to be a tool which was only used by large organizations, but now as there are solutions on the market, like ControlCase Data Discovery (CDD), which addresses both the corporate and small to medium sized market the technology has gained a broader appeal.

At the conference, ControlCase demonstrated its market leading data discovery solution which enables companies to identify unprotected cardholder data that may be stored on their systems. With CDD Enterprise, all of the scanning is done from one place, so there is no need to duplicate the process for each individual PC/laptop or install “agents” on each machine.
Key features of the software include:

CDD searches the entire hard disk for credit and debit card data;
CDD finds credit card data in network shares;
CDD searches the entire network and active directory domain all from one location without the use of agents;
CDD finds credit card data in most popular commercial and open source databases; and
CDD is extremely fast and uses very few network or CPU resources.

The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) used the event to provide advice on newly released guidance, discuss the feasibility of new special interest groups, deliver an update on the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) and inform delegates of changes to the PIN Transaction Security (PTS) requirements. In general, the meeting provided interested parties with an overview of the Council’s current standard activities, operations and future plans.

“Our attendance at the London event demonstrates our commitment to the EMEA marketplace,” said Ashwani Kaul, President, ControlCase Technologies. “Over the past twelve months or so, we have extended our customer base within the region and developed solutions which have met the specific PCI requirements of organizations that trade here. In terms of our strategic development, Europe plays a pivotal role which is why the conference in London was a key milestone in our events calendar. The meeting will further help us to define our proposition by enabling us to build international perspectives into our product development process.”

Data discovery scanning can be performed as a one-time project or can be scheduled to occur on a regular basis. The service can be run remotely or locally and its scalability makes it easy for both small and large businesses to identify and monitor for rogue data.
