A new online debt resource is on the market, following new statistics that levels of UK debt are soaring to a new high.

Latest figures for November 2007 reveal that Britain’s personal debt is increasing by £1 million every 4 minutes. These new facts highlight the need for more accessible and accurate information and debt advice for UK consumers. A not-for-profit organisation, the Debt Advice Trust, has launched their new online debt resource centre as a part of their ongoing commitment to help consumers with financial difficulties.

The Debt Advice Trust already provides a free debt counselling service over the phone, and online support via their interactive forum. As well as offering factual information on debt and debt solutions available online, their site also gives general advice and tips for people struggling financially through a frequently updated blog.

Whilst the average owed by every UK adult is £29,063, thousands of people struggling with debt are yet to call a debt advice organisation for free advice. This new online resource section means comprehensive debt information will now be available online for all consumers, not just over the phone.

With content added regularly and constantly updated with changes to the laws surrounding debt, the Debt Advice Trust’s Common Topics and Questions section is sure to become an important resource to anyone requiring information on anything from applying for bankruptcy to preventing debt at Christmas. All information published on the site has been subject to approval from Insolvency Practitioners and debt advice experts to ensure it is factually correct.
