Donated funds will help give back to the community through Sagebrush’s planned week-long series of events

Bend, OR, March 01, 2011 — Sagebrush, a collaborative fundraising series of events for the Central Oregon community, today announced that it has received a commitment of $100,000 from Deschutes Brewery for this year’s event. Announced last week at the Sagebrush fundraising campaign Launch party, Deschutes Brewery’s commitment will help to provide seed money for the new event which will raise funds for more than 100 nonprofit organizations in the region.

“Our Community Involvement Committee thought this was such an important project, that they decided to make a significant contribution right up front,” said Gary Fish of Deschutes Brewery. “The benefit of revamping the way Sagebrush is done is so clear: nonprofits can participate in a professionally executed and fully marketed community event, while bringing additional funds into their organizations from the match fund, all at no additional cost to the organization. It’s a win-win.”

Through various events and donations, like this one from Deschutes Brewery, a match fund is being raised in order to make community dollars go further. Simultaneously, the participating Central Oregon community nonprofits, with the support of Sagebrush campaign tools, will raise funds in the community on behalf of their organizations.

It is estimated that in-kind donations for the event and its campaign kickoff have well exceeded $100,000. Cutting up-front, out-of-pocket event expenses for the Sagebrush is a key goal for 2011, so that the maximum amount of money is distributed to participating nonprofit organizations.

Sagebrush, which has benefitted the Central Oregon community for the past 23 years, has expanded its scope this year by including all eligible 501(c)(3) organizations in Central Oregon, more than 100 of which signed up to participate in this year’s events. Sagebrush has also grown from a weekend event to now consist of numerous events spanning one week, kicking off with the Community Challenge and City Scramble during the Bend Summer Festival (July 9), followed by the Sagebrush Street Fare (July 13), Sagebrush Private Dinners(July 14), Sagebrush Classic Golf Tournament (July 15) and the Sagebrush Feast (July 16).
