Denver, CO – May 5, 2008 – Disaboom, the leading online community designed for people with disabilities and their friends, family and caregivers, today announced the expansion of its diabetes resource center. The newly expanded online resource provides information and an online community on the different types of diabetes, the symptoms, risk factors, diagnosis and management techniques.

More than 4,100 new cases of diabetes are diagnosed each day, making it the fifth deadliest disease in the country, according to the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes is associated with an increased risk for a number of serious, sometimes life-threatening, complications including heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, blindness and nervous system diseases. Proper diabetes management can greatly reduce the risk of complications. Disaboom’s diabetes resource center offers a comprehensive section where people can get the latest information on diabetes and to talk with others who understand the disease.

“Diabetes often leads to many health problems, but by taking the proper initiative many complications can be avoided,” said Dr. Glen House, founder of Disaboom. “Knowing and recognizing the symptoms and warning signs of diabetes and pre-diabetes is crucial for patients, families and caregivers.”

In addition to finding information about diabetes, visitors to www.disaboom.com’s newly expanded diabetes resource section will find a social platform where diabetics and their friends, family and caregivers can interact with one another to share information, offer support or chat online.

Launched in 2007, Disaboom is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people touched by disabilities. To visit Disaboom’s comprehensive diabetes resource section, visit www.disaboom.com.
