Disaboom Offers Jobs to Social Network Community Members to Tackle High Unemployment Rate for People with Disabilities

Denver, CO – June 16, 2008 – According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 67 percent of people with disabilities are unemployed, making them the largest unemployed population in America. To create employment opportunities for this population, Disaboom (OTCBB: DSBO; www.disaboom.com), the largest online community designed for people touched by disabilities, has taken a unique step by hiring its own online community members. Perhaps a first in the world of social networking, Disaboom is offering its members jobs to help build the Marketplace for products and services that serve their own community. Disaboom’s new program, the Marketplace Opportunity Brokers, enables Disaboom members and others the opportunity to earn significant commissions by selling business listings to local and national businesses and organizations that the community members know are accessible and supportive of people touched by disabilities.

“People touched by disabilities represent a large percentage of the unemployed population in America. These are individuals with the talent and the motivation, but often require jobs that are flexible and accessible – jobs that meet their unique lifestyles,” said Dr. Glen House, founder of Disaboom. “The Disaboom Marketplace Opportunity Broker program offers people touched by disability the unique opportunity to be employed on their own terms. They can work from their home, when they are able, and sell as much or as little as they’d like.”

To date, more than 350 Disaboom members have signed up to become Marketplace Opportunity Brokers or MOB team members, and this freelance sales force continues to grow daily. Disaboom MOB team members can earn commissions for selling ads in Disaboom’s Marketplace Business Listings in the following categories: Fitness and Physical Therapy; Health and Food Products; Healthcare Professionals; Home Accessibility; Medical Services; Medical Supplies; Rehabilitation; Sports and Entertainment; Transportation; Wheelchairs/Mobility; and Other Services. The team members are then awarded 33 percent of the total revenue gained from each sale plus a 5% bonus on their gross sales when they sell six or more listings in a month. They will also continue to earn an annuity on each business that relists every year.

“This is really historic: a job with an online community that in turn helps the community itself,” said House. “People touched by disabilities are looking for a resource where they can find businesses that understand their preferences and purchase decisions, and Disaboom’s Marketplace serves as a one-stop shop, whether it is for adaptable equipment or just dinner and a movie.”

Becoming a MOB team member is simple. To apply, members must first join Disaboom and then complete a short application and a W9 form on the site. A personalized sales page will be created that will provide MOB team members with all of the tools they need including sales tips and training, marketing collateral, letterhead and business card templates, and a weekly newsletter.

Members also become part of a nationwide team of brokers, and can connect with other brokers through a MOB group and MOB forum on Disaboom.com, read and post blogs with sales tips and MOB updates, ask questions of other MOB members and get in touch with fellow brokers in their area.
