In the current 2009 ski season two unknown factors will probably hit the snowboarders and skiers. This is not the prevailing credit crunch about which all of us are aware.
The first problem is the decreasing flight capacity with the increasing cost of fuel oil and the second issue is the increasing value of Euro.
Worried airlines are hiking flight prices as with the mounting dollar cost of a barrel of oil, whereas the decreasing flight capacity is taking a toll on the prices as well.
If you are lucky enough to get yourself a well priced flight or ski holiday package this season, your next problem is that you are going to have to pay 20-25% (with inflation) more this year for your resort costs such as ski pass, ski lessons and ski hire. This could add £60 a head or £250 – £300 more to the cost of a family ski holiday, based on a party of 4.
We are urging all skiers who have vacation plans to make their bookings now to avoid disappointments later on. This is more important considering the rise in the air fuel and also currency charges. It is advisable and best to make the use of current rates and fixed prices to make the bookings.
