An Esteemed Member of HTH Has Retired

HTH has been the leading manufacturer of Car Top Signs for major restaurant franchises worldwide since 1984, supplying companies such as Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, Hungry Howie’s, Subway and many others big and small.

Bill Elmer, the founder and owner of HTH Inc. for over 24 years, has retired, leaving the company to the capable hands of his son, Steve Elmer, and his wife, Sarah Fox. Although Bill no longer works at HTH, he will occasionally stop in to visit his wife Shari, who still works part time in the office. This is a family business that continues to thrive and bring quality products to its customers. Steve and Sarah Fox run the company with the same integrity and passion that Bill did for so many years.

As Bill enjoys his retired life, he leaves a proud and wonderful legacy at HTH Inc. With his dedication and hard work, he has created a company with one of the most recognizable car top signs not only in the restaurant industry, but other markets as well, including driving schools, neighborhood watches and taxis/shuttles.

Bill has been a hands on individual since the beginning, and many would tell you he wouldn’t have it any other way. Bill was able to adapt to an ever-changing market and create new signage to supply their customers with the most advanced and aerodynamic signs for their cars. Their first car top sign, the Stacker, came with straps and hooks. Next came the Window signs, the Wing, Bullet, Campus Insider and Box. Then Bill designed a car top sign with a magnetic attachment assembly. This advanced technology allowed restaurant drivers to effortlessly attach a car top sign and proceed on their deliveries in a timely manner.

Prior to Bill’s retirement, he and Steve had worked together on many custom car toppers.Today these products are still in use and have become the standardized signs for these clients.

With 18 car top sign-related patents and counting, Bill proudly displays all these patents on the walls of HTH Inc. In his father’s footsteps, Steve has created two new signs with added improvements in many of their components. He has also developed an LED rechargeable light system to provide a more convenient alternative to the cigarette cord.

Although many of the employees miss Bill’s presence in the office, “I had the most fun working with Bill, when he was here” said Tim Lynch, the staff is comforted knowing that Bill isn’t very far and definitely makes his presence known when he’s in the office for the occasional visit.
