FDA Testing of the E Cig

F

The Food and Drug Administration, in accordance to its legal mandate has put into test eighteen (18) E Cig tubes.The cartridges were tested two ways, both temperature controlled to determine the health issues associated with its use under the conditions tested.

The first test condition involved E Cig cartridges exposed in temperatures between forty and sixty five degrees Centigrade.. The second test involved the use of the cartridges at two hundred eighty degrees Centigrade. The results of the FDA showed that low traces of tobacco specific impurities and nitrosamines were detected from both products..

The E Cig report further adds, Nicotine is present in both products. Despite of the fact that the Smoking Everywhere Electronic Cigarette cartridges claim to be nicotine free, they actually contain the said chemical in small levels. . The products both showed very low levels of nitrosamines and impurities that are tobacco specific. . A particular amount of DEG was also found on the cartridge. .
The FDA reviewed the contents of the E Cig also found in the cartridges submitted for the study. The chemicals that were identified are the following:

. Diethylene Glycol. This chemical which has been identified to be fatal to humans when ingested was found on one of the cartridges. . This is often found in antifreeze but levels are low that they can be safely ingested and passed out of the system;

. Tobacco Specific Nitrosamines. The cartridge was identified to only contain trace elements of this chemical with a level that is comparable to those in nicotine replacement aids. . Researchers agree that low levels of tobacco nitrosamines are safe and not capable of causing cancer or cancerous growths. ;

The FDA, comparatively, also found the following chemicals in average tobacco cigarettes:

. Unlike the cartridges of E Cigs, average tobacco cigarettes have 300 to 1400 times higher nitrosamine level because of the burning of cigarette paper, flavors, impurities, and tobacco.;

. Carcinogenic chemicals found only in regular cigarettes and not in E Cig cartridges include Arsenic, DDT, Nitrobenzene, Nickel, Lead, Cadmium and Polonium 21. In total, regular cigarettes contain 10,000 chemicals when burned and inhaled;

Even though the testing procedures used on the cartridges of the E Cig are being criticized, it is still a fact that the amount of chemicals and carcinogens found on regular cigarettes pose greater health risks on its users.. This is why electronic cigarettes are the better alternative to regular tobacco cigarettes.

As can be seen, even the leading governmental agency has confirmed that regular cigarettes pose a greater health risk to users compared to the use of E Cig and its cartridges. Even though nitrosamine content was found on E Cig cartridges, the content level is very low unlike the amount absorbed by users from their every puff on their regular cigarettes. . The byproducts of each are very different even though both provide nicotine when heated. . As a result, the ingestion of harmful chemicals and toxic carcinogens are nearly nil for the E Cig compared to what regular cigarettes provide, according to the FDA.
