First 3D Punjabi Film to Represent Canadian Issues

Vancouver, BC?January 7, 2013.
First time feature filmmakers Manny Parmar and Gurpreet Sohi are excited to be having their Big Screen release for their film, Pehchaan 3D, on Feb 1st, 2013, as it is the First Punjabi 3D Film and it’s fully Canadian.

The film premeired at the South Asian Film Festival Canada 2012 in November and was a smash hit on both nights it was screened.

Pehchaan 3D was the only Canadian film at the festival and it stood out due its production value, message and ethical values. Producer/Director Manny Parmar is an SFU and BCIT film alumni who adores Indian films and what impact they have on the South Asian Community.

?We wanted to make a film that represents us, and the second generation of Punjabi?s living outside of India.  If Punjabi music has garnered its unique identity outside of India, why haven?t the films? Our approach was simple; let?s make a film that we would want to see in theatres that represents issues that we deal with here in Canada?

Pehchaan 3D has a story that circulates around coming forward when witnessing a crime. It is a film that deals with issues around family, friendship, identity, betrayal and ethical values. The film focusses on the message of coming foward and ending violence in Canada while still catering to the Bollywood audience with its amazing music by RDB, The Bilz and Kashif, Panjabi Hit Squad, and Vancouver’s local band Ranj Singh & The Disriminators.

Producer, Gurpreet Sohi, is glad that they were able to complete the hurdles of filming in a true stereoscopic 3D form.

?We had to work through many challenges while filming and putting it together. It?s great that we had support from all around, the community, local businesses, family, talent and a great crew all worked together to make this happen. We?re excited to a part of this Next Generation of Punjabi Cinema?

Starring Steve Dhillon. Mandeepak Patrola, and Jaspal Randhawa, Pehchaan 3D (Identity) will be a historic opportunity not to miss in a theatre near you.
