Boca Raton, FL – July, 2008

Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink has announced that free wind inspections through the My Safe Florida Home (MSFH) program are close to achieving their goal on free wind inspections.

In 2007, the Florida Legislature directed the MSFH program to provide inspections for at least 400,000 site-built, single-family, residential properties and provide grants to at least 35,000 applicants before June 30, 2009. Last month, CFO Sink announced that the program had exceeded its grant goals.

Homeowners receive a free wind inspection report which suggests ways homeowners can strengthen their homes against storm damage, and informs homeowners if they are currently eligible to save money on their wind insurance premiums. To date, 60 percent of homeowners who received a free wind inspection were eligible for discounts on their wind insurance premiums, averaging $220 statewide.

In 2008, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) calls for considerable hurricane activity with a 65 percent probability of an above normal season and a 25 percent probability of a near normal season. This means that there is a 90 percent chance of a near normal or above normal season.

As a public notice for hurricane preparedness to all Floridians, Ken Dsouza at WindStorm Reduction, LLC (www.reducewindinsurance.com) would like to focus on the safety of residents and their homes by getting them inspected. The wind inspection also reduces premiums, which translates to direct savings. This is much appreciated by all in this day and age, especially with rising insurance premiums and the higher cost of living.

Our simple 3 step process is as follows:

Step 1: Visit reducewindinsurance.com and set up an appointment for an inspection.

Step 2: A state certified inspector will come out and inspect your home.

Step 3: Once the inspection is reviewed and approved, you will receive a report that you will send to your insurance company to receive a reduced insurance premium.
