Glamourmom is assisted by non-profit organizations such as Feed The Children and World Breastfeeding Week Celebrations who have committed to transporting the nursing bra tanks and identifying pre-approved, independent partner agencies that will distribute supplies to moms and babies in need throughout the globe. By participating in the Buy One, Give One donation, mothers will be supplied with an essential nursing top that can help prolong breastfeeding.

The international breastfeeding rates have been significantly lower in less developed countries due to famine, war, poverty, or natural disaster. A lower breastfeeding rate can heavily affect Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) (number of deaths of babies less than one year of age per 1,000 live births). IMF has been a useful indicator of a country’s level of health or development, and is a component of the physical quality of life index. Infant mortality is one of the top five causes of death worldwide1, with 4 million babies dying within their first month of life1.

Breastmilk is organic and a highly nutritious food for babies. Breastmilk contains nutrients and antibodies that help protect babies from various illness, diseases, and even Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Breastmilk can also help babies’ immune systems and protect against diarrhea and acute respiratory infections, which are the two leading causes of infant mortality in the developing world. Breastfeeding also provides short and long-term health benefits for mothers such as reduced risk of breast, uterine and ovarian cancer and reduced risk of osteoporosis.

La Leche League USA World Breastfeeding Week Celebrations occurs each year during the first week of August. During this time more than 120 countries celebrate, raise awareness and support breastfeeding. National Breastfeeding Awareness Month – the breastfeeding campaign, is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to empower women to commit to breastfeeding by providing benefits for both babies and mothers.
