Going Mad for New Zealand Plaid

G

In the back blocks of New Zealand, Coos de Wit found a small family owned business turning out highest quality Mohair and alpaca products. Together, they created a selection of plaid throws specifically for his European design stores.

These are not the checked blankets you once found  in the back of every family car. Each throw is made up of 9 huge checks in bold colours. There are 4 colour-ways Arctic (a palette of greys with yellow contrast), Berry (in rich crimson, purple and berry hues), Horizon (deep blues with a green contrast) and Picasso with its persimon and green colours.

Mohair fibre produces a throw that is far lighter than a wool blanket or throw, with a significantly more luxurious silky feel, yet just as warm. Made in New Zealand from Angora goat fibre, these 100% pure Mohair throws and blankets will never feel “scratchy” like wool can do.

But it is the superior ability of Mohair to accept dye resulting in intense colours, that makes it the fibre of choice with interior designers like Coos de Wit. These bold plaid throws complement the ‘Windermere’ interior design collection of single colour throws or blankets produced in the same factory.

Colours in the Mohair products range from a standard selection of rich hues, through to an interior design worthy collection covering  a feast of 40 colours, both bold and subtle. Among the current collection there are colours good enough to eat: Avocado; Pesto; Mango; Candy Floss; Grape; Mulberry; and Tamarind. These 40 colours are available in two sizes (regular throw size of 130cm x 180cm)  with a smaller size suitable as a knee rug or a cot blanket.

Available from www.newzealandshowcase.com, at $142.00NZD for smaller knee or Cot Size Blankets, and starting at $179.00NZD for standard colour 130cm x 180cm throws, $239.00NZD for the interior design selection, and $259.00NZ for the Plaid colour-ways .
