Woodlands, TX, March 20, 2010 — The Green Earth—Green Plants® program announced today that Hoffman Design Group, Inc., an interior plantscape business in Aston, PA near Philadelphia has become the first business in Pennsylvania and the 12th business to become a Green Earth—Green Plants® certified business. “Hoffman Design Group has proven that they are an environmentally-responsible business and operate in an ecologically-friendly manner, says Kathy Fediw, LEED AP, CLP, CLT, president of Johnson Fediw Associates and founder of the certification program. Hoffman Design Group is a diversified interior landscaping company that takes care of indoor plants in office buildings, hotels and public indoor spaces in the Philadelphia area. They also provide exterior corporate landscaping, floral design and holiday decorating services. “We know that plants help improve indoor air quality, and caring for them in an environmentally-safe manner is more and more important in today’s marketplace” says Fediw.
Bryan Hoffman, owner of Hoffman Design Group, passed a rigorous assessment requiring full documentation. The assessment rates an interiorscape business on their indoor and outdoor facilities, vehicle usage, recycling program, horticultural practices, staff education and giving back to the community. “Hoffman Design Group rarely uses pesticides and is almost entirely pesticide-free. They regularly hold in-house workshops for their staff and publish their own monthly newsletter. Most of their technicians report directly to the jobsite from home, saving energy costs,” says Fediw. “All of their administrative staff and sales people telecommute from home when possible, decreasing carbon emissions and fuel costs.”
In addition, Hoffman Design Group is very involved with their community and donate to the American Red Cross and National Kidney Foundation.
