HPG Partner Speaking at TSHRM Meeting
Mark Livingston to Discuss Planning for ERISA Audits

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 23, 2010)?Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP (www.hpg.com), the largest CPA firm headquartered and staffed in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina, announces today that firm partner, J. Mark Livingston, CPA, will be the featured speaker at the March 25 Triangle Society of Human Resource Management meeting.

Livingston will be discussing several steps that can be taken to prepare for an annual ERISA audit and how to minimize workflow disturbance during the process. The federal government generally requires companies to have their benefit plans audited annually if they have more than 100 participants. The audit requires access to company information, as well as employee HR records.

“Audits can cause anxious moments for many companies as they try to pull information together,” says Livingston. “Hopefully, this discussion can alleviate the stress and help organize data, expediting the process.”

Livingston has 26 years of CPA experience serving growth companies and their owners. He has an extensive background in audit and financial reporting of employee benefit plans and serves as HPG’s Designated Audit Partner on file with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center, or EBPAQC. Prior to joining HPG as a partner in 2001, he worked for two national accounting and consulting firms.
