HTC 7 Pro v HTC 7 Trophy Smartphone Comparison

H

The HTC 7 Pro and HTC 7 Trophy are two Windows smartphones that feature the Windows 7 Phone operating system. Although they look quite different, with the Pro being a slider phone while the Trophy is a candybar, in fact they have quite a few similarities.

So let’s look at the similarities and differences between the HTC 7 Pro and the HTC 7 Trophy.

Speaking in broad terms, the HTC 7 Pro is geared more towards business users while the HTC 7 Trophy often sells on its multimedia, and more specifically gaming abilities.

The HTC 7 Pro features a full qwerty keyboard, enabling very fast and accurate typing. The HTC 7 Trophy has a touchscreen. This is where personal preference is the real key, depending on what you feel more comfortable entering data with.

Certainly if you are a business user, the qwerty keyboard has obvious appeal. It is very simple to view and edit documents created in Microsoft Office on the Pro, and with a WVGA screen measuring 3.6-inches these documents will be easy to read. You can share your documents with others in your company easily too, facilitated by Microsoft SharePoint.

The trouble with a slide out qwerty keyboard is, of course, that it adds weight and thickness to the device. The Pro is 3.5mm thick, making it some 30 per cent thicker than the HTC 7 Trophy. It is also 45 grams heavier, 185 grams compared with the Trophy’s 140 gram weight.

When it comes to multimedia performance, though, the HTC 7 Trophy is not a lightweight.

Overall it provides a stunning multimedia experience whilst cutting edge-features such as Xbox Live integration, the 3.8 inch touch screen and 1GHz processor earn it its rightful place as one of the best gaming handsets on the market.

It’s not just games that the HTC 7 Trophy is good for. Built-in Zune player enables you to download all your favourite films, music and television shows and syncs your PC’s music library to your Trophy when charging.

Display-wise, the HTC 7 Trophy’s 3.8-inch screen is slightly larger than the 3.6-inch screen of the HTC 7 Pro, though both have the same resolution (480 x 800 WVGA).

In terms of storage the phones are equal. There is 8GB of built-in memory in both and both have got ample RAM and ROM to meet your everyday demands.

So, as is so often the case, it is really a matter of personal choice and thinking what you will mainly use your smartphone for. For gaming and multimedia, the HTC 7 Trophy is a stand-out. For a more standard phone use and for business users in particular, it’s the HTC 7 Pro that wins.
