HTC Cha Cha vs Blackberry Bold 9900 Dakota Smartphone Comparison

H

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 Dakota is the soon to be released latest smartphone to join RIM’s famous BlackBerry Bold portfolio. It has been slimmed down and spiced up with a whole new feature set, meaning it will be a popular choice for BlackBerry fans wanting to upgrade, as well as a great introduction to the BlackBerry market for those first-timers to RIM’s phones.

Of course, the main contender for BlackBerry is the HTC smartphone range, so let’s compare it with a popular HTV smartphone, the HTC ChaCha.

The HTC Cha Cha is designed for those users with social in mind. It comes with a dedicated Facebook button, which means that you can instantly share your photos, videos and thoughts with your friends online.

You can even share your location with a touch of a button, so should you want to meet up then you can let your friends know where you are.

The HTC Cha Cha runs on Android OS 2.3.3 with the HTC Sense skin, making organisation very simple.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 Dakota runs the new BlackBerry 7 OS, which has been upgraded to include another new features, a 2.8-inch capacitive touch screen. This makes it the first BB Bold featuring a touch screen, something that BlackBerry users have been after for a while.

Of course, the ubiquitous Bold front facing qwerty keyboard remains, giving you the choice of which you prefer to use – or you can even combine the two.

The HTC Cha Cha also has a qwerty keyboard, but does not come with a touch screen.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 boasts a 1.2GHz processor, making it twice as powerful as its predecessor, the Bold 9780, and the most powerful BlackBerry smartphone to date. Near Field Communication (NFC) is also included, another first for a BlackBerry handset.

Here it clearly outstrips the HTC Cha Cha, which only has an 800Mhz processor.

The BlackBerry 9900 Dakota has good connectivity including wi-fi and Bluetooth support, as well as web-browsing on the go with 3G connectivity. GPS is also included and the new BlackBerry 7 OS is integrated with BlackBerry Maps for even better navigation support.

The HTC Cha Cha also has wi-fi, Bluetooth and 3G, making it great for connectivity too.

When it comes to cameras, both are pretty similar with decent 5 megapixel offerings – not the best on the smartphone market but still good enough to take snaps of your days and nights out. Both feature autofocus and flash.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 comes with 8GB of internal storage, upgradable to 32GB, while the HTC Cha Cha is also upgradable to 32GB, meaning you can easily store all of your memories.
