HTC Galaxy Titan v Samsung Galaxy Nexus

HTC and Samsung are amongst the most popular smartphone manufacturers. This Christmas time, let’s compare two of their big boys, the HTC Galaxy Titan and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus – two of the most up to date phones out there, packed with a huge range of new and improved features.

The HTC TITAN is, as its name suggests, a giant. It is part of the new HTC Windows Phone Mango range and has the largest display of any Windows handset, at 4.7 inches. This is a Super-LCD capacitive touchscreen enclosed in a stylish unibody design, with a resolution of 480 x 800.

The TITAN runs on the Windows Phone 7.5 operating system and is ideal for multi-tasking, perfect if you are always on the go. You can switch effortlessly between work and play modes and listen to music while checking your messages, for example.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus, meanwhile, is an Android phone and the first to feature the latest Android operating system, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It comes with a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED display, which includes a brand new security feature called Face Unlock, which enables you to unlock you phone by facial recognition.

The Nexus has a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, and there’s a 5 megapixel camera on the back, which features and LED flash and shoots 1,080p video. It’s a slimline phone, too, at just 8.94mm thick.

The HTC Galaxy TITAN, meanwhile, is a little thicker but still slim at 9.9mm, and there is an 8MP camera, which comes with a 28mm lens, f/2.2 aperture, dual LED flash and 720p HD video recording.

Being a Microsoft device the TITAN has superb integration with Microsoft Office. Editing documents is made easier by the large on-screen keyboard, while the ability to multi-task means that you can have several items open at the same time. However, life isn’t all about work so the TITAN also includes plenty of entertainment options, including access to Zune services and Xbox Live.

With Ice Cream Sandwich, the Nexus has Android Beam, a feature that enables you to easily share contacts, apps, websites and more between two NFC (Near Field Communication) enabled Android devices.

Both of the smartphones come with ample storage – 16GB built in.

Clove Technology stock the HTC TITAN for £478.80 including VAT.
